Title: Hawken
Post by: Pepper on October 05, 2012, 06:08
Hawken appears to use a very different package method, obfuscated. The game is alpha, I know, so gildor's support is unlikely since package format can change further, I just need to know if it's something on my end i'm doing wrong? Even looking at the structure makes no sense, there are ogg headers in there but they are completely trashed, even though the game loads and plays the upk's contents fine. instead of ENCODER=UnrealEngine3, i see ENCODER=U.à..Engine3 and other ridiculous cut off things.

Pkgtool doesn't seem to work well, uploading more files...

There is no "obfuscation" made in Havken's engine. There are only a few changes to package format.

Oh, my bad. maybe it's just a different sound format then, because the ogg vorbis files inside seem to be crap, either corrupted or manipulated in a way that isnt playable by normal sound players.

What tool did you used to extract "corrupted" ogg files?

A simple ogg/wav/mp3 scanner called audiorip.exe, and it didn't extract any probably because just looking at them in a hex editor for me shows strangeness. The "vorbi(s)" is missing it's "s" for most, or all of them, I'll try just ripping by hand but I'm not sure if that would work with these strange files.

Edit: incase it isnt clear, it's showing up when i merely open the upk's in a hex editor, and search for vorb.

Packages are compressed, so ordinary resource scanners would not work.

that's weird, because the packages in a hex editor show partial data structures and headers for filetypes, what kind of compression only compresses parts of files and not the entire package? for example, alot of the ogg vorbis headers are mostly intact, but odd bits are wrong.

Use "Unreal package decompressor" available on this site to decompress the packages.

Huh, I probably have to wait for it to update for this game's support right? it tells me wrong tag in package (EA31928C)
Tells me the same no matter what -lzo/-zlib flag if i use that too.

True ... I'm completely forgot about different package tag and such dependency in decompressor/extractor ... I'll update the tools tomorrow if I'll not forget.

The game is in open beta stage now, so files could be available for everyone. Could someone post files here?

I've uploaded umodel with full Hawken support. Enjoy ;)
I hope developers will not change data formats in the future.

"HawkenGame.upk" contains all robots and fps referencies, only thing that is missing is suppling parts of defencives system of robots and couple of other things, but they are somewhere,

and my question, how do i use .mat(that are extracted with use of umodel) files, in Autodesk 3ds studios, if i load them as material library, it can't be signed on mesh itself, and i couldn't take good shoots of model with use of shader( for windows), plz if someone know how to do this send here links on videos or thread,

i do really appreaciate some help, thx.

This is incredibly exciting. I've extracted a bunch of pskx files but I'm having trouble getting them into a suitable format for UDK. I'm aware of the ActorX plugin but that only works for 3DS Max which I do not have. Is there a way to get them into UDK via Blender? I'm assuming the process of getting a pskx file back into UDK is by converting it with another program. But is 3DS Max the only option?

Thanks and Umodel is awesome!
