Post by: dragbody on August 21, 2013, 17:17
The game does not appear to be supported currently. Here is one of the error messages I get:

By the way I know that this game is not supported.

Haha, sorry for that then  :P

No worries then. I look forward to support, but I know you are busy. Take your time and know we appreciate all you do!

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I'm just curious how much time is consumed adding support for these games after files are posted for study? I was wondering if files for xcom are posted would it take as long as Marvel Heroes which had files posted way back and is still not supported.

Hi,

Marvel Heroes is a special case - unlike other games, this game has modified TFC system. Usually I'm finding changes in executable (in disassembly) and making similar changes in umodel. With TFC it's completely different - I can't find the code in executable. It's like looking for piece of code which I don't know how it looks like, inside 30-40Mb of binary data. It's extremely difficult. I've spent for Marvel Heroes much more time than for all other games in this year together, and I'm still having difficulties in supposing and understanding their changes. Perhaps they have layered compression in TFC file, and I don't know which layer is pointed by Texture2D object.

Most likely XCOM would require 1-2 hours of work, in comparison to a few full working days I already spent to Marvel Heroes. Who can decide - should I support a few more games, or I must work on texture support for single game instead?

As probably you know, I left Ubisoft in August. After that I didn't work for a month. That was terrible financial time for my family. Right now I'm working on a job with per-hour payment basis. I'm trying to recover from my family situation as fast as I can - I'm working 10-12 hours per day, and spending remaining time with my family. There's no time for umodel left for the moment. May be I could find 1-2 hours per week to support some nice game. I'm planning to relax my work a bit after November, so perhaps I'll have more time for hobby projects then.

Konstantin

I've got to ask since I'm stumped.

Does anyone know in what package the alien heads are? I found the humans, I found the sectoids but for the love of me I can't find the standard outsider heads anywhere.

The weird part is that the textures seem to be there, just no meshes.

Eh, is it possible that the alien heads use some completely weird format? Since I can't even seem to be able to rip them out.

...I found the humans...

I can't find even humans heads. Does anybody know which packages are containing them?

EDIT: Check XBase_BV5.xxx for female base head and a few hair models!

I'm using the 360 version of the game and I keep getting this error:

Unknown ItemSize 0
FSkelIndexBuffer3<< <- FStaticLODModel3<< <- TArray::Serialize:0/1 <- USkeletalMesh3::Serialize <- LoadObject:SkeletalMesh3'Pawn_Angela_AI_SF.Angela_FieldOutfit', pos=784DF8, ver=849/32794, game=8000 <- UObject::EndLoad <- LoadWholePackage:Pawn_Angela_AI_SF <- CUmodelApp::ShowPackageUI <- Main:umodel_version=406

I've tried everything, from changing the "Override Game Detection" option, too "Package Compression". The only time anything showed up is when I had only "Skeletal Mesh" to load. Any idea what's wrong anyone?

I see that XBox360 version has a slightly different version of the game files than PC version, so UModel can't recognize it. The error message you posted here was just because the game is not detected. Override the game please (yes, I see your message 'I've tried everything, from changing the "Override Game Detection" ...'), and if UModel will crash again - send error report again. Message should be different.

NB: I can see that the game was neither detected nor specified by user with text "game=8000" - this means plain UE3.

I know about Base female head, but it's doesn't fit any skeleton. I meant real heads of characters.

Hi, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area but I'm stumped as to where all the head meshes are located for XCom the Bureua Declassified. I'm looking for Myron Faulke specifically but all I found of his was his body and hair, I don't know which upk all the character's heads are located. Any help would be very appreciated.

I’m fairly certain the heads aren’t supported. Likely some strange morph format. This applies to both the humans and the main aliens
