You can use 3dripper dx because the beta use directx9 when you add decals on your cloth...

I have looked into APB. This game has some strange engine modifications which are making it incompatible with UE3. After a few hours of reversing I have no major progress, so I decided to stop research.

Edit: I have spent more time with this game and investigated those changes. Now umodel has APB Texture2D support. To support meshes I need more packages - none of packages sent here has StaticMesh objects.

Sorry to interrupt, but this game is not due to be released till June 29,2010

Am I missing something?   lol.

I have added APB support into umodel. It works at least with all files I have.

Its very simple: this package does not contains any mesh.

True. A CLOSED beta. So I really dont understand how these files are "out there" (then again, I still have been unable to figure out how people are getting files off of Xbox 360 games either as I cant even read a single disk in a PC!) oh well.  ::)

http://na.apb.com/downloads/na-installerMS is a direct link to the North American installer. Hope that helps.

By the way, thx gildor for this update!

Title: Re: APB: All points bulletin
Post by: Ace-Angel on June 19, 2010, 18:45
Well, Closed Beta or not it was, people can still download it from the right links and install it and upload the files. You just won't be able to play it.

As for X360, you need a DVD-Drive which can read them, and a X360 DVD-Dumper (program which will create an ISO from the game basically).

I am getting this error for some files:

Quote
******** V_C_Carrying.upk ********

ERROR: Too much unknown files - bad root directory?
RegisterGameFile:./Audio/SoundBanks/English(US)/871370626.wav <- ScanGameDirectory <- ScanGameDirectory <- ScanGameDirectory <- ScanGameDirectory <- appSetRootDirectory:dir=. <- Main

First it seemed like I had to many sub-folders so moved the CONTENT folder to m: root

So: m:\content

but still get errors

Dude, some of my friends get things 6months to 1year before they have been released. Some titles not all, so don't ask  :P

Does wav-files placed in the directory with packages or separately? If separately - you simply should specify correct "-path".

My apologies. I meant no harm or disrespect.

I had let a bit of frustration with the Xbox360 file-reading-disk-dumping-to-PC research I was doing get to me. More trouble than its worth (for this purpose) IMO. I'm too old for that "stuff"  lol.  :D

Hmm... It's very strange that Unreal game uses unpackaged wav-files. Probably it's because of the BETA stage of development. Let's wait for the game release. If developers will continue to use wav files, I'll check what I can do with this.

For now, you can temporarily move C:\Content\Audio folder on some separate place (outside of C:\Content folder) and launch umodel again.

thanks for the reply, of course we should not bother to much with the beta release as alot of things can happen for real release, thanks for the reply

Full version is out, but i can't find costume assets anywhere. From attached files i can extract only textures, but something tells me that they contents not only 2d maps.

Costume assets are stored here - APB\APBGame\Content\Packages\APB_CharacterTool

Very interesting how they do their NPC's, too - they use normal maps for different parts of the face (chin, brow, cheeks, eyes - F_Body_Head.upk for the female textures) which combine to create on top of a standard generic mesh to create a somewhat unique face. Well worth a look if this kinda stuff interests you.

Also, if using the build of APB provided here by Tosyk, make sure you move the audio folder *completely* out of the APB folder, otherwise umodel will politely decline your request :)

thankf for reply! so in other words, I can create any character presented on screenshots in internet just using packages from APB\APBGame\Content\Packages\APB_CharacterTool?

I think re-creating the NPC's should be possible from what ive seen. I haven't played with it much just yet, but it looks like all the pieces are there. I'll post if I work anything out - might be a few days before I'll get another chance to look at it again - thanks for linking it!  :)
