second, is there any way to extract all the .upk files directly? using a name doesnt work since half the files are numbers and i couldnt find any help through searching aaaand third, how are the animations structured? a lot of the model .upks are just named an 8 figure long series of numbers which makes it impossible to find its animations, someone said they used universal animations earlier in the thread but thats ridiculous due to the diverse anatomy of all the models, besides that you have to extract everything before you can search for it right? which makes that a catch 22 regardless... on top of that all of the humanoid models are split into 3 parts, body/head/hair and stored in their own (and completely unrelated name-wise) .upk files, absolutely ridiculous every asian unreal based game ive looked at so far have had a completely messed up file structure T_T Title: Re: Blade & Soul Post by: chrrox on July 16, 2011, 01:01 a lot of mmo's are based on numbers if you extracted everything and looked at the numbers they would match up there are a ton of games using this system.

I've made code analysis. It looks like B&S authors are improving data protection from one engine build to another (without upgrading the engine itself). They have 1) encryption of the compressed data (CBT1?) 2) encryption of some data pointers in the export table (CBT2?) 3) encryption of the whole package (CBT3?) (1) were already supported by older umodel versions. (3) were implemented by me today, (2) will be implemented soon. By the way I'm feeling bad removing encoding made by NCsoft to protect their property. In the case of NCsoft would update their protection scheme in the future most probably I will not support it. I've tried the new release and it does work with my CBT3 data - although, unlike what you said, I have to use the "-game=bns" option for it to work. ??? Anyway it's awesome ! So far, I've run into two problems (which can be fixed, see below) : 1) Most if not all character models (player, NPC, creature) are 95% invisible. 2) Some character models use a reflection map that is waaayyy too strong. To fix issue n°1, just look for a file named "00012963.upk" and rename (or delete) it. Character models won't find the weird alpha texture responsible for this opacity problem, and they will look perfect. :) To fix issue n°2, look for a file named "00002640.upk" and rename (or delete) it. This will get rid of the excessive reflection map that still made some character models look weird. Time is very limited resource for me now, and usually, when some resource is not enough, priorities has more meaning than just "order of tasks". I should divide my free time between family, short rest and umodel (may be something else, I don't remember at the moment). Umodel gets updates from time to time, but only those which requires "just a few hours of work", but not "a few days" ones.

Like you said, 00007936 have the head mesh for most of the models. The face texture that fits JinF 0002691 is from folder 00028545, but its greyscale almost a bump map, must be a colour version hiding somewhere. After reading about 7 times through this one particular thread, I have come to the conclusion that, most likely, this game is not supported. Indeed, the latest UEviewer does not seem to want to work with a recent build of Blade and Soul (somewhere between April 15th and May 1st), NA edition. I also have searched tirelessly all day today using google, in the hopes of finding that CBT1 build. My results: Empty. I have searched throughout this website, bladeandsouldojo, using search terms that contain specific filenames, specific folder paths (I actually found the original path name for the CBT1 game, but could not find anything current to download it... dead links such as fileserve and others) Since I realize that you don't have the CBT or perhaps any version of Blade and Soul, I would like to ask the members here if they perhaps have the old CBT1/CBT3 files (complete) lying around somewhere. As my last resort, I am currently downloading the game once more from a korean website, which was provided by another person on this very same thread. I hope that this Korean Release is the one that is said to be supported by the latest version of umodel, by gildor's own post. It's a shot in the dark, so my hopes are not high. Anyway, I am also working on two other projects I would like to share. I am creating a HUGE list of animations for models of about 4 creatures I have created. So, I am researching various poses for animations, in the hopes that I can aid anyone who is willing to create the models, textures, and animations for me (A massive project worth an estimate grand or more.), as I am not skilled in both mind and understanding on how to make it myself using 3dsmax (There are these things called wireframes, bones, splines, and more. From my understanding so far, each bone can be "transformed" once per frame to create the appearance of movement. However, my research has turned up in mathmatics calculations and knowing how each individual transformation value will change the position, rotation, and scale of a bone, and since each bone is individual in a model, there are countless transformations in one frame, and countless more when multiplied to the number of frames provided... something that I don't have the time, skill, or patience to program...) If you add all files from CookedPC beware that one of them will halt the extraction progress, I cannot remember exactly what its called but it does have the word 'core' in its name. By going down the list and adding files by blocks at a time will highlight the file you need to avoid. The only mystery left for me is the lack of base face texture for JinF. I downloaded the latest version of umodel (as of June 17th 2017), ran in administrator's mode and override game selection to Blade and Soul. Named one refers to maps and cinematic and for what i remember they tend to not to contain npcs and such. I'm very thankful for your Software. Yesterday i copied about 3000 .upk files from the BnS folder into a new one. Pressed "Scan content" and there was no problem. I checked everything with a skeleton to find what i want. But here is the problem, when i change the path to the actual game folder or even copy all files in the folder into a new one, after i pressed scan content it won't let me open the files anymore. I've double checked it several times, before the scan it works flawlessly. ERROR CODE: Access violation (C0000005) at umodel.exe+0x3580D UObject::EndLoad <- CUmodelApp::ShowPackageUI <- Main:umodel_build=989 In the original game folder i get WARNINGs in the console for fixing name but even when i delete those files in the other folder and i get no WARNINGs, it won't let me open files after the scan. And sadly it's not just one file, are those too many files at once maybe? Hopefully there is a fix for that.
