I thought it was Shader related?

I know the problem you are having very well.I don't remember where, but I have heard the Mass Effect uses multiple channels in one texture, you may want to play with photoshop to figure it out.

Yeah, I know, and the channels are mixed with the Shaders if I recall...something like the Green Channel and Blue are rendered out to give the normals...

At least, that's what I found during my failed modding days...

I have gone through all the tutorials here but I still can't export or view any of the models from mass effect. The only thing I have managed was one of the weapons but it came through as a cube. So could anyone give an example of of how to extract one of the character files?

I keep getting this error:
"ERROR: assertion failed: S.bUsefullPrecisionPosition"
Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Check new umodel. I have fixed this error yesterday.

Mass Effect uses unsupported normal map compression algorithm. Possibly - 3Dc.
Just in case: umodel has been updated some time ago to correctly decompress Mass Effect normal maps.
