Is there no plan Morph Target to support?
« on: April 12, 2012, 21:35 »

First, really thank for your effort, Gildor.

but I feel the lack of morph target support.

I think it used character face customizing in some Unreal online games.

so if can be see or export, many Unreal users recognize knowhow about that.

And I'm also wonder.  Grin

Thus I hope to support it soon.

But it is your discretion.

Thanks again!

Despite MorphTarget format is very simple, there is no plans to support it.
I don't think this tech is used for faces because Unreal has limitations of only 4 morphs per SkeletalMeshComponent. Also morphs are made completely on CPU and requires extra memory to store geometry (for each mesh instance!). So most probably face customization is made with bones.
I did not seen use of morphs for anything else than UT3's damaged vehicles.
Also, I cannot imagine how to import morph into any editor - morph is linked to the particular SkeletalMesh and represents its deformation like a StaticMesh (morph is nothing without assigned SkeletalMesh)

It would be useful to use, Grabbing out the morphs.

Would help people to have some facial expression to make and other type of morph on props.

Thank for your answer.

Now understand why cannot and it needless.

I trusted face customization made with morph, now I've no idea.

Need to find more informations.

Thanks.

I believe that games with face customization has own system for deformation, because MorphTarget is too weak.
