lvl file type from Hunted no longer selectable?
« on: January 24, 2015, 16:04 »

When using older versions of UMODEL before GUI was added I could open XXX.LVL files and extract them no problems.

Now it seems the GUI version (20 Jan 2015) no longer recognizes these file types.

Any suggestions?

Could you open this file from command line? I never heard about .lvl files - what's that?

I created a small drag and drop program for umodel which allows me to drop any file into a drop zone then sends peramaters to UMODEL.

I did not realize it was not designed to open these levels ending with .lvl

I can make a short video to show you if you like?

I did not understand you, sorry. Please answer some quesitons:

1. How did you open these files before?
2. What is inside these files?
3. Are you speaking about "Hunted: The Demon's Forge"?

1. I used the older command-line versions of UMODEL.
2. Meshes, Textures... etc
3. Yes, Hunted: The Demon's Forge

New umodel has UI, but the command line remains the same. Perhaps it has validation for file extension - I don't remember. I think I'll add "lvl" extension to list of handled file types, but as quick fix you may rename the file you're trying to open to ".upk" - it should be opened then.

Maybe you could use a WILDCARD option.

There are other UDK games that have different level extension names.

Thank you for UMODEL and thank you for replying.

For now I will stick to my old Drag-Drop setup I made for Umodel Grin

So, the "old approach" is still working?

By the way, I've added ".lvl" extension, please re-download umodel.

Maybe you could use a WILDCARD option.
I'm going to add list of user-defined file extensions as UI options later - but currently I'm too busy with other things.

Yes, it works just the same with the new GUI version only I use my drop-zone I made. The Menu Bar still functions well in the Viewer along with all ctrl keys.
