I have tried ripping things from this game
So far sounds/music seem to work, using the UE extractor.exe

However models/textures don't seem to work, throws errors:

I see it crashed with lightmap texture. Try disabling lightmaps in startup settings.

I'm not exactly sure which UE runs on this game, I seen on wikipedia its on UE4, but from what I see on the files, it seems UE3.
i've tried with only skel mesh and textures enabled.

Yes, it appears as UE3 game. And it has custom code for mesh loading (no idea about textures and animations). So, it's not supported.

No, sorry, for many reasons. The main one is that the game appears as absolute garbage to me.

It really is a shame, these character models are at stake
granted I have no idea how difficult it would be to accomplish this, I hope you'll reconsider.

So it's been 2 years since the last thread was posted. Has anyone else had any success with ripping models from it? all I could get were textures and audio files. With .upk files crashing in umodel I haven't been able to get much of anything else.

I love this series and so do a TON of people, I would love to see support for this game in the future if possible.

The game is supported in specific build from this topic, no special override is required. The only difference from default values is that the game is using 64-bit sizes for bulk data.

Update: Now the game is supported in more generic build for most Grasshopper's UE3 games.
