Squad
« on: November 24, 2018, 13:31 »

Has anybody checked to see if Squad fully works with UE viewer? It uses 4.16 last time I checked. I opened some packages, and most, if not all, models export fine (at least the ones ive checked) and audio extracts fine, however, animations don't play properly. Most animations cause the skeleton to stretch, while there are specific ones that play perfectly fine. Was wondering if I was the only one??? I can submit game packages for research if need be gildor.

Show me a screenshot of "stretched animation".
Also it would be nice if you'd provide some reference to a game. I think it will be very hard to find it just by name "Squad", it's a kind of very generic name, just like if you'd try to search for a game with name "Table".

Not necessarily stretched, but more like the bones are all mushed together:

EDIT:

Sorry, Squad is the literal name of the game, it's still in alpha (alpha version 12.1 I think), here is steam link:
used UE4 version 4.16 to open the game (may change in the future, but as of now, uses 4.16)

1. did you notice a red message at bottom line?
2. what about my 2nd part of the question, what's the game is that?

You could also just download the SDK (big download though - 95GB) to get the models that way, just remember not to use them in any commercial projects.

Hi there, in case you are still having problems with your Squad animations make sure of the following:

1. if you're planning on exporting first person animations, be sure to export the 1P_Char animations and not 3P_Char, these will break the first person models in the way your screenshot shows.
2. Remember that guns and arms are separate, which means you're gonna have to parent them together manually in either blender, maya, 3ds max, etc

hope this helps.

It seems game devs decided to encrypt their files at last...
Anyone have any ideas what would the encryption key be now?

It seems you're opening an asset from SDK, editor asset. UModel currently is not capable of opening editor meshes from UE4.22+.

You may open these assets in game's SDK - it should have UnrealEd shipped. I have plans for fixing opening of editor assets in UModel, however this is a very complex task (huge changes there), and I have OTHER plans too, and some old requests which I should complete. So I wouldn't expect this soon.

I suppose this game comes with EDITOR (what is called sometimes "SDK").

@MarkoJeff1: I've checked and this particular asset works fine with the latest umodel build and proper engine override (the game is on 4.23 at the moment). It looks like the package (pakchunk4400) got somehow corrupted, try to move it in separate folder and then open this texture again from there - if the issue still persists, it's corrupted package fault and you'll need to download it again.
