Changing TEXTURE to work In Game? -Strangle
« on: April 06, 2011, 13:23 »

Hi all,

All I want to do is remove the Crosshairs from the HUD in Stranglehold.  *(...yes I know it's an old game and I should get a life)

Using Umodel, I was able to extract all content from the the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Midway Home Entertainment\Stranglehold\StrangleholdGame\CookedPC\ui_ingame.xxx

This created a new folder \ui_ingame which had all the extracted goodies in it.  Yay! Smiley

Just as I suspected, there were some .tga files that appear to represent the ingame crosshairs.  I modified them to be blank and saved the files.  Now all I have to do is put my modified .tga's back into the ui_ingame.xxx somehow?

...how in gods name do I do that?

Thanks,
-nasbill

Hi,
there is no way to re-package extracted files back.

.. the little child inside of me just died.

Thanks though from releasing me from my prison of thought.  I was beating my head against the wall over this one.

I have developed a new approach to my crosshair removal problem.  I am using a hex editor to see if I can't literally delete certain aspects of the ui from the ui_ingame.xxx file.

The problem is the moment I change/delete any value in the ui_ingame.xxx file the game will freeze on load.  I have managed to remove lines from Coalesced.ini via Hex editor and the game will play just fine?

Do you have any suggestions mighty Gildor?

In most cases you cannot modify xxx file using hex editor.
