Game: Return Alive (EGS page / steam page)
UE4 version: 4.27

All works fine - including meshes, textures and animations - with the latest umodel build (1590 at the moment). Some materials are custom.

It's a good example for explaining how you can preview retargeted animations in simple cases, when layout is straightforward enough:

Here most character meshes are using "_Base" mesh in "Rig" subfolder and skins. If you open a skin mesh and try to find animations for it, there will not be any, because they're retargeted through base skeleton. But you can open "base" mesh for this character, find all animations for it (Ctrl+A) or add only required ones (append option), then append skin mesh to current set - not just open, but append, otherwise current set unloads all loaded objects - then switch to skin mesh with PageUp/PageDown, and then find all animations for it (Ctrl+A). This way all compatible animations will be loaded to the mesh with different skeleton.

In other cases, when a game is using master skeleton for most characters and animations are retargeted, it's better to append only selected animations to particular mesh (like "master/base" ones) by using filter in flat view mode - for example, animations with character name in it.

For some other games, you need to combine meshes by appending them to current set, then tagging required ones (Ctrl+T) - the list with combined meshes will be at the viewer's left side - then switch to the mesh, which is used for retargeting, and then you can search/preview animations like usual. It may happen in cases when full-body animations are linked to skeleton from head mesh rather than body one, for whatever reason (I saw it a few times).
