can only export Deus Ex models as .3d

It doesn't matter which options I have selected in the export dialogue, all I get is .3d files. What am I doing wrong?

ah, I see I'm supposed to use VertexMesh-Blender-IO to import .3d files into blender, my bad.

EDIT: For anyone else looking into DX models, the follow-up to all this is a scale issue discussed and basically solved here.
