Troubles with UE V5.0.3
« on: July 02, 2024, 14:40 »

I'm trying to extract assets from a game called Dark Siren and I'm not having any luck so far. Upon trying to launch the program with the game's path, I'm met with this following error:
Warning: utok has version 5
Missing LoaderGlobalNameHashes chunk
FIOStoreFileSystem::LoadGlobalContainer <- TokArchive <- RegisterGameFile: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Siren\DarkSiren/Content/Paks/DarkSiren-Windows.pak <- ScanGameDirectory <- ReadDir <- ScanGameDirectory <- ReadDir <- ScanGameDirectory <- appSetRootDirectory: dir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Siren\DarkSiren <- Main: umodel_build=1590

I'm a bit new to this and frankly I don't understand what the error means, I'd be grateful if someone could shed some light on what I'm doing wrong, or if the program just isn't compatible with this game, etc.

Thanks!!

Update: I've been going around the forum seeing if people had the same issue and I found one thread (https://www.gildor.org/smf/index.php/topic,8190.0.html) that helped me further my research. I finally managed to extract the assets using a modded version of umodel (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jc18jXMIqGFmAiOaRUF_IgorhZT6cea-/view) linked on said thread, my only issue with this is I'm unable to extract the audio files for some reasons, still unsure why. The error is:

Memory: bad allocation size -1379507296 bytes
appMalloc: size=-1379507296 (total=4 Mbytes) <- FArray::Empty: 1432586988 x 56 <- TArray::Serialize: 0/0 <- USoundWave::Serialize <- LoadObject: SoundWave'WAV_IDA_-_Low_Intensity_Loop.WAV_IDA_-_Low_Intensity_Loop', pos=2C1, ver=525/0, game=ue5.0 <- UObject::EndLoad <- LoadWholePackage: /Game/IDA_Music_Pack/Wavs/WAV_IDA_-_Low_Intensity_Loop.uasset <- ExportPackages <- UIMenuItem::HandleCommand <- UIMenu::Popup <- UIBaseDialog::WndProc <- UIBaseDialog::CustomMessageLoop <- UIBaseDialog::ShowDialog: modal=1, title="Choose a package to open" <- CUmodelApp::ShowPackageUI <- Main: umodel_build=1579 based fix55

@underlord: umodel doesn't support modern audio formats used in recent games. You can try fmodel instead, which has support for newer audio formats, but it has its own specifics for UE5 games.

Thanks for your response,
unfortunately I have already tried Fmodel before and it just won't run. Upon execution, it just returns the error:
An unhandled exception occurred: FModel cannot be run from a read-only directory. Please move it to a writable location.

The file is in my Downloads folder and that's where Umodel also is, and it was able to create files for the exported assets, so I kinda scrubbed off that idea ever since, although I'd definitely like to find out why and get it working.

I've just had this same issue! Have you managed to get it working yet?

Not the audio part, no, though I did manage to export pretty much everything else using a combination of the modified umodel version linked above and a .psk importer in blender, haven't managed to reattach the model textures as I'm quite a noob when it comes to Blender but at least I can gain access to the models now! If you have any issue in the process then feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer, though I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer.
