When I try to convert Fortnite data with umodel_materials_ue5.exe
« on: August 29, 2024, 09:58 »

I am getting an error like the one in the attached image.
What is causing this? Embarrassed
I would appreciate it if you could let me know if this can be resolved with some settings or usage, or if I need to wait for a version update.

@tomo: At least you're using outdated specific build, current version is fix66. But aside from that umodel is not the best choose here, especially for Fortnite. Even though separate assets may work fine with latest specific build, I'd recommend to use fmodel instead.

Thank you for your reply.  Smiley
I understand that the build is old, but where can I get the latest build? I finally found what I'm using now after searching around, and I didn't really have time to worry about the build being new or old.
As for fmodel, I use it to convert character meshes into psk format, but can it also be used for Textures files like the 'Hat_Male_Commando_Pizza_Pit' file (the one used in the attached error message)? I couldn't do it when I tried it before, so I didn't pursue it much after that, but if it's possible, could you tell me the operation procedure?

@tomo: There is sticked topic in UE5 forum section for better understanding where you can get latest build and read other related info. As for fmodel usage, it's better to address such things to respective community.

I followed the link you provided and arrived at the latest version (probably). There were no errors like before, and I was able to successfully create a psk file. Smiley
However, it seems that depending on the mesh or texture, it may or may not be possible to convert it. In my case, I was able to convert the mesh data of one character, but not the texture. For another character, I was only able to convert the texture. The things that could not be converted were converted with Fmodel, so there was no problem. I don't know if this is the specification of Umodel and Fmodel, but it seems that they complement each other.
In any case, I was able to achieve my original goal. Thank you to spritvod for your advice despite your busy schedule. I will ask you again if I have any questions, so I hope you will help me out in that case. Wink
