Enslaved: Odyssey To The West - extract music , ambient and other sounds
« on: August 10, 2011, 15:33 »

Hi everybody!

I'm new to UEViewer but it is a great tool already. I already extracted some useful textures from the game Enslaved!

...but I'm here to get some help of you guys:

      - How can I extract music , ambient and other sounds from the game?

I've tried UEViewerGUI but that says when I point to a possibly sound/music file that it doesn't contain ANY know object.  Sad

Please help me guys out, a small information, suggestion is A SUGGESTION too!
Thank you all in advance! Have a nice week, a nice life and unlimited success to all of you!

Hi.
Enslaved has no PC version, so sound support is not possible. Plus, sounds are supported for the games which has no modifications in original Unreal sound code.

Hi Gildor!

Thanks for the reply and your time!

Can you give me an advice where or how can I start to dig in to be able to extract sounds and music from it? I have the game OST but it's fairly lesser than the ingame atmosphere and I really want to be able to extract somehow because I like the overall acoustic and instrumental world of Enslaved. Have you a case like this before, I mean you wanted because it's damn good to your taste but at that time you can't... ?

How can I find/detect what sound format the game has? Have you any suggestion in that?

I really appreciate ANY advice where should I start to learn to be able to do what I mentioned!

Try to use "unreal package extractor" on packages with sounds. And then you can try to extract sounds from SoundNodeWave files. But I don't think you will convert them to something usable.

Thank you very much!

I will try it!

The game developed by Ninja Theory. Have you any experience with their other work(s) or clue what sound format they use? What is your opinion about what is the top 3-5 most general sound format used in games based on Unreal Engine 3? Maybe OGG, MP3, WAV, FLAC? And what sound format(s) used in their Enslaved game most probably?

I have both the PS3 and the X360 version to parse. With which one should I start? I tried the X360, but I will the PS3 also.

I don't know this company.
Usually UE3 games uses formats which are native for the console.

Usually UE3 used ogg for PC and XMA for XBox360. No idea about PS3.
XMA format stored in packages is not real XMA file format, it has replaced data header. That's why XBox360 sounds cannot be extracted.

Try both, they have identical chances to success (both are very low).

Sorry, to dig out old topic, but I seem to have problem,
with extracting SoundNodeWave files from .xxx packages.

The UModel works fine on all .xxx packages, when exporting textures, models, etc.
but when I try to export from packages the I assume they have music fiels inside.

I just wonder why it does not work?

If it might help, the path I use in .bat file:
Code:
umodel -path="...\UE Viewer" ch12_audio.xxx -export

Best Regards

Check the FAQ.

Funny thing, I read the FAQ...
Try some different options, and still I get nothing or just one simple skeletal mesh.

Here's some examples of files I'm trying to extract: http://www.mediafire.com/?55lbgvgddqgant3

Sorry, but I might have some problems with understanding few aspects of FAQ,
cause English isn't my native.

EDIT: My bad... UE Viewer doesn't support those files...
...you might work on that if you got time Smiley

Best Regards...
