Smite(HiRez) Models - .psk and texture files not lining up.
« on: July 22, 2012, 17:15 »

Hey guys,

I've been looking for a way to convert the smite game files from UPK into OBJ and JPG files. The way ive got working so far is to open a UPK static mesh in UDK, export to OBJ and then strip the texture files using UEViewer and convert them from BMP into JPG files through Photoshop.

The idea is get all gods working like this: http://p3d.in/ahz7K

But some of the gods don't have static meshes, the majority have Skeletal Meshes and thats where I'm hitting a speed bump. UDK won't export as an OBJ, just creates an empty file. What i've tried to do is export via UEViewer to PSK, import into Blender and then export out as an OBJ. This gets me the model fine but when it comes to lining up the textures I get this result: http://p3d.in/zuyX5

Its rather frustrating. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi.
I've installed Firefox to view your WebGL samples Smiley
Your second mesh looks weird. The most probable reason is that this mesh has multiple UV channels, and diffuse texture is mapped using 2nd or other (but not 1st) channel. Check this mesh in umodel - is it looks well there? If not, try pressing <U> key in a viewer, it will cycle all available UV sets.

Hey thanks for the reply!

It looks fine in Umodel, though It seems to have 3 total UV Channels. The other two can be seen when pressing U. It looks like blender makes the model use the 3rd UV Channel.

Is there a way to export the files straight as a OBJ or a way for me to change the UV Channel the texture is applied to?
Or is there a better way for me to convert the PSK into OBJ?

I know nothing about OBJ format and ways of conversion psk to it.
You could ask the author of Blender PSK plugin to support multiple UV channels.
