SpeedTree in the future?
« on: August 31, 2014, 21:56 »

Hello,
i want to ask to you Gildor, if you planing add support for SpeedTree files.
I tried the "extract.exe", but it's unpack just this (for example) - tree01.SpeedTree
And if not, exist some program which can extract SPT files?

Thanks for answer

Hi,

Sorry, SpeedTree support is not planned now. Probably I'll look at this later, for UE4, when UE4 support will be done - UE4 has SpeedTree support now. By the way, I'm not sure that the source code at Epic's Git repository is enough to display a SpeedTree asset without having an appropriate license. It is also unclear which format should be used for export - most likely, it could be exported only as a StaticMesh, not as a SpeedTree asset file.

And definitely, UE3's SpeedTree will not be supported.
