Model rotation problem
« on: March 23, 2010, 13:00 »

Is it me, or am I unable to re-position my characters extracted from UMV? Whenever I extract them from the game they lie down instead of stand upright, and even if I rotate them 90 degrees or something on 3DS Max, the animations are still played at the wrong angle, like in this screenshot:

Where is mesh rotated? (I suppose you have extracted mesh+animations then imported them back into Unreal Engine, but you have not said that)

Yep. I extracted it from the game, and then imported it back into UE. As for the mesh, I've attached the PSK file that I ripped from the game. I've tried using UT Unpacker and all other game ripping tools that support Unreal, including your own commandline extractor tool, but all I get is a .skeletalmesh file which no app can understand.

So, it is a typical error for UnrealEd newbies: you should read UDN's articles and tutorials about AnimBrowser. Read this:

This tool is not supposed to be used for content extraction.

With all due respect.
