Injecting modified textures into DECOMPRESSED files
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:01 »

I've been trying to modify files of MK VS DC on Xbox360 with no luck so far...

I have decompressed Char_Sonya.xxx with gildors decompression tool, which worked fine...

Then i used umodel to find the texture i wanted to edit:
4103   BAAAFE   160257 Texture2D Sonya_Diff

OK

As it seems, UE3 uses TGA files for textures or atleast umodel extracts them as such... so i tried to use the usual tools to rip the texture(dragon unpackers hyperripper, jaeder naub) so i can edit it and inject it again later but they couldn't find any tga texture or only produced colored noise Sad

How do i rip an editable texture that can be injected again?

First of all, MK vs DC is an XBox360 game. This platform has different texture format (try to view textures from this game using umodel with "-noxbox" switch - it will disable XBox360 texture decoding).
You will not be able to encode texture into XBox360 format.

Aw... too bad... so i guess umodel converts them on the fly?

That would explain why i found nothing in the archives Smiley
