Use updated specific build from this topic with game specific override to avoid issues with materials. For general limitations and possible issues please read this topic. Most materials for vehicles are custom.

it seems like devs are using Nanite for cars (all except chassis), so no way to get them

Okay, about cars and basically any other Static Meshes. Apparently, they are not Nanite, but umodel can't properly handle it and shows only some of the LOD.

@spiritovod, maybe you can check if it is possible to fix this  azn

Use updated specific build from this topic

@Tosyk: It's up to developers to decide where and how to use nanite meshes. Car chassis here are skeletal meshes, which can't be nanites (it only works for static meshes, at least in current engine). As for the rest, in some cases fallback part for nanites (minimum geometry) may be a LOD with decent quality. It's even mentioned in the topic with current limitations and known issues, when lower LODs can be of better quality than higher ones due to various cooking settings - for example, lower LODs can be backed with better fallback geometry. Though it's rare behavior, by default nanite meshes are backed in the same way as usual meshes.

If you have doubts about particular meshes, I can take a look. But if it's about car chassis (skeletal meshes) vs car interior (static meshes), it's related to the things explained above.

UE5 since 5.5 (I think) received nanite support for skeletal meshes. So, it's quite soon all meshes in AAA games will be nanite.

@Gildor: From what I understand, nanites for skeletal meshes are not compatible with morphs (which are mainly used now for face animations) and cloth physics yet, making them almost unusable without workarounds in actual development. At least I didn't see them being used in actual games so far.

@spiritovod I don't know if you've looked into this but I just learned CUE4Parse/FModel can export nanite as of July

https://github.com/FabianFG/CUE4Parse/commit/df6b0037218f120419d3879b479a1c9e9102cc83

I haven't tested it but it looks promising?

@allenweisse: If you have questions related to other tools, it's better to address them to respective community. If you mean if it can be used in umodel, probably Gildor could use it, but personally I don't rely on other tools' code much due to overall difference in architectures and export formats.
