if maya don't have md5 it should at least be able to import fbx with bones and all but this is off-topic

I use models in my own engine to try out how things look and also to learn more about character modeling

Yeah, I learn from character modeling.

The Turok game especially thought me alot for FPS-type game, and now, with games like Tera or other MMO's coming out, I'm hoping to learn how next-gen games are created, especially in the MMO's department.

Problem is, many Tutorials are becoming old very fast, like in 6 months, the video I had from Gnomon is suddenly obsolete and useless. Games however...they always teach you something new  Wink

With that said, the only thing I have to say is Thank you, hehe.

ace, a video showing 3d in general can never be outdated. That is the biggest problem with some people starting with 3d, they start sculpting in zbrush without even knowing anything about polycount, seams, edge flow etc. Once you know the basics (through a gnomon dvd or someting else) you will know stuff better, so always have those old dvds Smiley The best so far is 3ds game development modeling for unreal according to me, ALOT of tips

sorry for off-topic Smiley

I mostly use Umodel for modding UE games, as well as extracting characters for me to port them to GTA. Here's a test video showing my efforts in modding the Unfortunate Events game:

I use it to export the models , so i can import them into another 3d package ( usually lightwave or poser ) for stills or animations.

I use umodel to export and convert such models to be used in an external open-source posing program called XNALara. I'm not the only person to do so - infact, it's quite popular.

You can find out about XNALara here: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=147100
You can also explore the hundreds of models already ported here (not just using umodel): http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=151335

Of course it was primarily just to be used with posing "Tomb Raider Underworld" characters/models but has since evolved into a large community, and umodel has only helped improve it's success and we, I'm sure, are grateful for such. I, atleast, hope to continue using programs such as umodel to bring more characters & models over to XNALara. Cheesy
